Pastor Caspar's Commentaries - Festival of Lights

Back in Jerusalem it was winter, and Jesus/Yeshua was walking about inside the temple area, in Shlomo's (Solomon's) Colonnade. (John 10:22) Jesus/Yeshua is the "Light of the World", and so he ought be the focus each day that we can see clearly now.

The Lord created all things and also times and seasons and nations and bounders etc.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8,"To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:"
The Lord Jesus/Yeshua was here in Solomon's Colonnade as his people celebrated the Festival of Lights, also known as Hanukkah a time of supernatural miracles.

The Festival of Lights celebration was and is a time for prayer with family and friends. It is a time to focus on the light of the world, Jesus/Yeshua. When light comes darkness is destroyed. Science says without light the universe can't exist, the Holy Scripture tells us God is light. (1 John 1:5)

To celebrate the 9 branches of the menorah/candelabrum is to be placed in a window to help publicise the miracle that took place when a small cruse of pure oil which was only enough for a day instead burned for eight days. This was accompanied with the liberation of Israel from Hellenic dominance and the reclaiming of the Temple of the Lord. A time to celebrate the victory of the Maccabees (who were Israelites) over the appearance of the more powerful Greek-Syrian evil dictator called Antiochus about 2200 years ago.

The candles are placed in the menorah from left to right and the candles are kindled from right to left. The centre candle is called the shammash (caretaker/helper). The shamash is removed, lit, and used to kindle the other candles then returned to its holder.

The first night of the Festival of Lights /Hanukkah you will have two candles in your menorah, the Shamash and one candle for the first night of Festival. The second night you will have three candles, the Shamash and two candles on the far right of the menorah representing two nights of the Festival of Lights /Hanukkah and so on through the eight days! On the last night of the Festival of Lights, there will be all nine candles in the menorah. Basically a total of 44 candles is needed for the entire process of this celebration. The candles are lit at sundown as the whole family gathers together. We read in Matthew 5:16,"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." That is for true Spirit- Filled Believers in Christ to do everyday.

I pray you who celebrate have a blessed joyful Festival of Lights in the almighty name of Jesus/ Yeshua. Fight back overcomers, trust Papa God for every detail and stay in faith! Jesus said in Luke 21:15, "For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.' I say hallelujah! Because "All", things are possible with God! I pray the Lord's supernatural peace, healing, provision and protection cover you always with oceans of agape love in the almighty name of Jesus/Yeshua!
