Rick Warren - Where He Went Wrong - Why it Matters

(Image - wonkette.com)

In order to understand Rick Warren's current policies one must travel back in time; specifically to October 1 2002 and the release of his book "Purpose Driven Life".

I was asked to purchase a copy of Warren's book in order to review it for an acquaintance. I got as far as a single sentence in the introduction, put the book in the garbage, and told my friend to get someone else. The sentence which I found so utterly revolting was "Jesus was 'empowered' by his forty day fast".

In my book "Fast Track to Freedom" I go into great detail about this; more detail than I can afford to now. Essentially, however, we see a very different 'Jesus' proposed by Warren than the one described in scripture. Warren quoted from the account in Matthew 4 which certainly neglects to grant us the full picture. If we include the account from Luke 4 we see that Jesus was NOT 'empowered' by the fast. He powered THROUGH it!

This no trivial matter. Whenever we speak or teach anything about Jesus without a proper understanding of WHO Jesus is we are in danger of falling exponentially into further error. The full account actually teaches that Jesus was already FULL of the Holy Spirit. It is important to understand that Jesus did not receive power from the fast but rather, like I said, he went through it under full power, like an ice-breaker powering through frozen seas, Jesus accomplished under the same circumstances that which Adam did not - he beat the Devil with the WORD. Adam could have simply quoted the Word of God to the serpent and that would have been the end of the matter. Yet Jesus came along thousands of years later and showed us all how to do it. We defeat the enemy under the power of the Holy Spirit using the Word of God. Like a lion in a cage it needs no defending. Simply open the cage - it will defend itself.

This brings us to today; ten years later. And now we see on full display that which I predicted ten years ago – a full departure from the teachings of scripture on the true identity of Jesus.

In his typical liberal fashion, Pastor Warren has joined a movement known as King’s Way. The movement’s goal is to bring Christians and Muslims together without either group trying to proselytize or convert the other. This is a direct disobeying of orders from Jesus Himself who commanded us to covert (offer the adoption as sons to the lost) and baptize.

As part of this effort, Warren announced that he wants to create a set of principles that both evangelical Christians and Muslims could agree to in the effort to bring churches and mosques closer together. One of those principles is that we both worship the same God. In other words, God and Allah are one in the same deity.

Yet in one of the teaching videos on the PPSIMMONS youtube channel we clearly display the truth about the Allah/God/Jesus differentiation. Watch for yourself.

This brings us to the difference between the Jesus spoken of in the Q’uran and the Jesus plainly taught in the Bible. And this also brings us to how Rick Warren found himself and his faith coming unglued and derailed. They are two different persons. Like the difference between the Jesus (hayzus) who tends bar in Mexico city (Jesus being a popular name in Mexico) and Jesus of Nazareth (Jeshua Messiah). But why, again, is this so grave a matter? Simply put, unless we believe that Jesus is who He SAID he was, we will die in our sins!

“I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”
John 8:24

Jesus was, and still is, God. He was God with us. He was God who became flesh. He was God who took upon Himself the sins of the world. Jesus Christ is perfect theology. As long as we believe He is who He said he is, we receive His payment for our sins and receive eternal life as adopted sons into the Kingdom. It is that simple.

Yet the Muslims believe, as Rick Warren does, in a different Jesus; in a different God. The Islamic “faith” teaches Jesus did not die for anyone’s sins and He was not God. They believe Jesus was just another prophet like Mohammed. In the eyes of the Muslim, no one’s sins are paid for… and that teaching is from the pit of hell.

We were warned about the false teachers and false doctrines that would spring up in the last days. It all begins, at least for Rick Warren and let’s face it, for practically every other cult out there, with the identity of Jesus.

Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
John 8:58

UPDATE -

Rick Warren attempted to deflect criticism of his attempt to unite the Muslims and Christians under "Chrislam" in an article/interview he posted himself... the very transcript of the interview lest we be confused about his intent. In this interview he actually says Muslims are our "brothers", further cementing the fears we all know are based on reality since he released "The Purpose Driven Life". From Warren's own article:

QUESTION: Why do you think people who call themselves Christians sometimes say the most hateful things about Muslims?

WARREN: Well, some of those folks probably aren’t really Christians. 1 John 4:20 says, “If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.”

Muslims are NOT our brothers. Moreover the effort, informally dubbed King's Way, caps years of outreach between Warren and Muslims. Warren has broken Ramadan fasts at a Mission Viejo mosque, met Muslim leaders abroad and addressed 8,000 Muslims at a national convention in Washington D.C.

Furthermore we have discovered that Rick Warren is an elected member of the CFR - Council on Foreign Relations. It is a think tank chaired by, among others, notorious Bildeberg member David Rockefeller. The list of members can be found at this website. Following his election to the CFR in 2005 - 2006, Warren became the spiritual darling of the White House and was asked to give the presidential inauguration prayer for Barack Obama. And at the inauguration he prayed in the name of "ISA" - the destroyer of Christianity.

Was this simply an honest mistake; the blunder of a rookie? Or was there an intent behind it; an intent to be syncretic like the President? In 2009 Rick Warren spoke at the ISNA convention; a Muslim meeting which deals with Muslim affairs. This three-part speech is embedded below. Please watch all three parts for full context. This is Chrislam - the amalgamating of two, albeit separate belief systems. into one common goal - to seek the common good of the world. It is a spiritual yoke; the most unequal yoke imaginable. Again - this speech by Warren says it all. He is promoting Chrislam here. He opens his speech with As-Salāmu `Alaykum (السلام عليكم) - an Arabic greeting often translated as Peace be upon you or Peace be with you. The greeting is traditionally used among Muslims around the world.

As you watch all three parts listen for the call to yoke together in violation of 2 Corinthians 6:14 which says "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"

Also notice that he refers to the Muslims as "brothers" and even says God likes the diversity of religions on the earth.

Notice in the second part that he begins his description of the three major things wrong with the world with the issue of "conflict". He says it is the result of failing to reconcile with "God". And he's asking this large group of Muslims to assist him with this problem? As though any of them have reconciled with God? Hello! Warren is speaking to an entire group of people who have FAILED TO RECONCILE WITH GOD! ISLAM is responsible for the vast majority of conflict in the world today. Somebody with a true heart for evangelism would have pointed that out to these lost people. Somebody who really loved these sinners would have shown them that Jesus is the only way to solve the world's problems... because without Jesus in their lives, in their hearts, and in their culture, none of them stand a chance of doing anything good at all. I guess it's going to take someone else, Rick.

  1. I've always heard it said by Muslims that the Quran, although I've never read it, that their god Allah "has no son." Case closed for us true followers of Jesus Christ! I'm afraid the Rick Warren has fallen by the wayside; that is, if he was ever really on the narrow road to begin with. My opinion is that there is too much ecumenism, easy-believism, etc., coming from him to ever consider him a true believer in Jesus Christ.
