Amazing research and correlations
Exclusive to PPSIMMONS News and Ministry

I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. (Revelation 2:13 KJV)
The above verse comes from the letter to the Church at
Pergamum. We can see just on the
surface that obviously Antipas was a faithful servant and follower of Jesus and
was also martyred for that reason. What an amazing legacy to be recorded in
scripture forever as following Christ -
literally to your death!
As I was reading this recently I began to wonder: What if
Antipas' name was recorded here as a clue or a foreshadowing of things to come?
For some reason I couldn't stop wondering: Did this have a greater meaning?
Then as I thought about it more, the words jumped off the page at me, "in
those days of Antipas", so I started researching to see what I could find
out about the "days of Antipas".
A quick Wikipedia search reveals the following:
Antipas of Pergamum
Many Christian traditions believe Saint Antipas to be the
Antipas referred to in the Book of Revelation (Revelation 2:13) as the
"faithful martyr" of Pergamon, "where Satan dwells".
According to Christian tradition, John the Apostle ordained Antipas as bishop
of Pergamon during the reign of the Roman emperor Domitian. The traditional
account goes on to say Antipas was martyred in ca. 92 AD by burning in a brazen
bull-shaped altar used for casting out demons worshiped by the local
population.
So we see here that its documented that Antipas was indeed
martyred in 92AD, he lived in Pergamon, "where Satan dwells"(
remember that for later) and also that the emperor Domitian ruled during this
time.
This is where it started to get interesting to me. I decided
to see what I could find out about Domitian since he was emperor during
"those days of Antipas"
Again we go to Wikipedia:
As Emperor, Domitian strengthened the economy by revaluing
the Roman coinage, expanded the border defenses of the Empire, and initiated a
massive building program to restore the damaged city of Rome. Significant wars
were fought in Britain, where his general Agricola attempted to conquer
Caledonia (Scotland), and in Dacia, where Domitian was unable to procure a
decisive victory against king
Decebalus. Domitian's government exhibited totalitarian
characteristics; he saw himself as the new Augustus, an enlightened despot
destined to guide the Roman Empire into a new era of brilliance. Religious,
military, and cultural propaganda fostered a cult of personality, and by
nominating himself perpetual censor, he sought to control public and private
morals. As a consequence, Domitian was popular with the people and army but
considered a tyrant by members of the Roman Senate. According to Suetonius, he
was the first Roman Emperor who had demanded to be addressed as dominus et deus
(master
and god).
WOW! Does any of that sound familiar?
Lets look at the description of Domitian's reign piece by
piece:
1. Revalued the Roman currency, we haven't seen this happen
in the U.S. yet but our financial system is a wreck at best, and this could
easily happen - soon.
2. Initiated a massive building program, "shovel ready
jobs" sound familiar?
3. "Significant" wars were fought in which he
"attempted" to conquer Scotland and in Dacia where he could not
procure a "decisive victory." Afghanistan, Libya, Syria - we could
easily get involved in Egypt any day and in NONE of theses instances have we or
will we secure a "decisive" victory.
4. Totalitarian characteristics, enlightened despot destined
to guide the Roman Empire into a new era of "brilliance." Do I really
need to even comment on this one?
5. Religious, military, and cultural propaganda fostered a
"cult of personality."
The following link documents that for the first time since
1948 it is now "legal" for the US government to
"propagandize" the American public.http://www.businessinsider.com/ndaa-legalizes-propaganda-2012-5
And again, do I really even need to go into the "cult of personality"?
So you see we may well be living in times extremely similar
or even mirroring "those days of Antipas?"
BUT WAIT!! It gets better! Remember earlier I said to
remember the words "Where Satan dwells"
Lets look one more time at the scripture with which we
started:
I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where
Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith,
even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among
you, where Satan dwelleth. (Revelation 2:13 KJV)
Two more possible clues, "Where Satan's seat is"
and "where Satan dwells."
It has been well documented that "Satan's seat"
referenced here was the altar of Zeus at Pergamum.
http://www.cbn.com/700club/features/churchhistory/pergamon/
It has also been documented that Obama visited the
"seat of Satan" in Berlin where it had been moved in the 1880's, and
he also had a replica built to deliver his acceptance speech from at the
Democratic National Convention in 2008. http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/aug2011/stevene82.htm
So could it be that that the "emperor" in
"those days of Antipas" describes, almost to an exacting description,
our "emperor" today? And could it be as well that our
"emperor" of today has delivered a speech to accept the nomination to
become "emperor" from the "seat of Satan"?
Could it be that Jesus gave us these warnings and signs and
clues to DISCERN the times in which we live? I believe he did just that!
