Rep. Steve Stockman: House Democrats ‘openly interfering’ with Benghazi investigation and ‘intimidating witnesses’

Texas Rep. Steve Stockman likes to do things in a big way.

Tuesday, the Republican from Friendswood formally announced the largest petition ever presented to Congress. The petition — which contains the signatures of 1,000 Special Operations veterans and is 60 feet long — urges members of the House to force consideration of H.R. 36, the bill that would establish a Select Committee to fully investigate the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack at Benghazi.

Last week, Rep. Steve Stockman filed a discharge petition to force a vote in the House on establishing a Select Committee to investigate the Benghazi incident.

According to Special Operations Speaks, Stockman said that "some House Democrats now appear to be openly interfering with the investigation and intimidating witnesses, which only raises more questions about the White House's involvement. The only way we're going to get a clean and thorough investigation is by forcing a vote with a discharge petition."

Rep. Louie Gohmert, the Tyler Republican and fellow conservative firebrand, joined Stockman as a co-sponsor of H.R. 36.
