"Stand your Ground" now becomes "DUTY TO RETREAT!"

Sheila Jackson Lee Tries to Replace "Stand Your Ground" with "Duty to Retreat"

I suppose Texas Congress(wo)man Sheila Jackson Lee thinks this is her way of honoring Tryavon Martin. Her secretary Mike McQuerry said that Lee wanted to push this bill, because "she's always been interested in what happened with Trayvon." But as we all know, Florida's "stand your ground" law had nothing to do with Zimmerman's acquittal. Even the President acknowledged that. Even so, McQuerry said that Lee felt this was the "right time" to pursue these changes.

Her proposal, called the Justice Exists for Us All Act, would require states with "stand your ground" laws to repeal those laws and replace them with a "duty to retreat" provision, or else face cuts in federal funding:
