I wonder how many other people have had the song “Ophelia”
in their head all day long. It’s a great little tune by a group that was
popular when I was knee-high to a grass hopper called “The Band”.
Drummer and vocalist Levon Helm passed this week; a sad day for many fans of their music. And like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Christopher Hitchens, Levon Helm committed suicide by Liberalism.
Now, I know some people out there are scratching their heads on this one but hear me out. Michael Jackson and Whitney were the obvious ones - they clearly embraced an all-out abandonment of any restriction on their lives. Houston - a drunken drug-user. Jackson - addicted to prescription drugs.
Christopher Hitchens' suicide by Liberalism is even more obvious. He even admitted that he wished he could have quit the Liberal nature of his lifestyle before it got to him - the booze and smoking, etc.
Now we see the same thing happening in the news - it's sad but true - Levon Helm committed suicide by Liberalism in the same manner.
The dictionary defines Liberalism as an unrestricted lifestyle. Levon Helm was a heavy smoker; addicted to cigarettes, and his life was snuffed out by cancer which began in the throat. Now hear me - we're not beating up on Helm here. this is not a salvation issue here. Paul said that for him all things are permissible. Smoking will not keep anyone out of heaven. However - Paul goes on to say not everything is beneficial and he refused to be mastered by anything. In other words - addiction will have no place in his life.
The Bible is clearly against liberalism which, if we were to translate liberalism in a language most Christians are familiar with - "Christianese" - we would call Liberalism a life full of sin or a "sinful" lifestyle.
Now, let's be crystal clear, just as a person can be a Christian, saved, and heaven-bound and borrow from the atheists by embracing the moronic theory of evolution, in the exact same way - a person can be a saved, and heaven-bound Christian and borrow from the atheists by ignoring the restrictions placed on them by avoiding addictions. The result is always the same. The restrictions exist, not because God is some sort of cosmic killjoy up in the clouds taking pleasure restraining people. They exist for the same reason parents don't let their kids play in the street. They exist for the same reason we have speed limits. They exist because God is love.
The PPSIMMONS resource "Fast Track to Freedom" offers a solution to quitting smoking the Bible way. Almighty God has given the world a tool that works every time to defeat any addiction. Get yours now.
Levon Helm committed suicide by liberalism. May God bless his family and loved ones who mourn his loss.
