WASHINGTON — Nancy Pelosi is staying mum about whether she wants to keep leading the Democrats in the House of Representatives, though she suggested Tuesday that she’ll announce one way or the other on Wednesday if she plans to step down from her leadership position.
“While I love you all very dearly, I thought maybe I would talk to my own caucus before I shared that information with you,” Pelosi told reporters during a Tuesday press conference at the Capitol.
Pelosi suggested an announcement about her future will come during a Wednesday press conference.
“I’ll see you tomorrow at 10, for those of who you are interested,” Pelosi said with a laugh.
Despite her party failing to take control of the House, Pelosi — flanked by the newly-elected Democrats in the House — attempted to put a positive spin on the congressional elections during the Tuesday press conference.
“They are extraordinary leaders who will make our House Democratic caucus the first caucus in history — in the history of civilized government — to have a majority of women and minorities,” Pelosi said.
