PPSIMMONS: I was raised to believe that all Americans were simply "Americans," regardless of race. I guess I was wrong.
Let me see:Barack Obama has a white mother from Kansas and a black father (from who knows where). Yet, Barack Obama is hailed as a BLACK man - and you are a RACIST if you say otherwise.
George Zimmerman has a white father and a Peruvian (Hispanic) mother. But, Zimmerman is hailed as a WHITE man or a WHITE "Hispanic" - and you are a RACIST if you say otherwise.
Furthermore, in the O.J. Simpson trial - the media worried that black Americans would RIOT if a black man was convicted of murdering a white woman and a white man. However in the Zimmerman trial - the media are worried that black Americans will riot if a Hispanic (or White - YOU pick) man is NOT convicted of murdering a black man. Really? So what does this say about the media's perception of black Americans in general?
