Nine people were killed in a suicide bomb attack that struck near the Indian consulate in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad. Three attackers in an explosives-laden car detonated their devices when police opened fire on them as they were approaching a checkpoint near the consulate. No Indian officials were injured in the attack.
