Outreach: Who is Moses to the Jews?

The Messianic Prophecy of Moses

One of the greatest Messianic prophecies was delivered to Israel by Moses. To the Jews, he occupies a place of supreme importance, even higher than Abraham, the father of the Jews. For thousands of years, Israel has looked back with reverence to their great lawgiver and prophet, Moses. He was a unique leader with outstanding qualities as a prophet, priest, teacher, and lawgiver. None of the other prophets or leaders came close to duplicating this multiple role.
A Prophet Like Moses

Yet, in one of his most specific predictions, Moses declared that God would raise up another Jewish prophet in the future whose life would closely resemble his. This prophecy of Moses that the Messiah would be like him is important to Israel in determining the credentials of the Messiah. Moses prophesied of "a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear. ... And the Lord said to me ... I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him"
(Deuteronomy 18:15,17-19).

The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers - it is to him you shall listen.(Deuteronomy 18:15

In this pasuk (verse), we find the only passage in the entire Torah where Moses explicitly identifies himself as a prophet of the LORD. Moreover, this is also the only passage where Moses identifies the coming of the Mashiach (Messiah) as "a Prophet like me"(Deuteronomy 18:15; John 6:14).

Outreach: Who is Moses to the Jews?

Members of Messiah of Israel Ministries were at the beautiful Tel Aviv seashore sharing the wonderful message: "The Messiah - A Prophet Like Moses".

                                Shimon receved a Bible DVD

When Messianic Rabbi Zev Porat was handing out Bibles and Bible DVDs, one religious man, named Efrem, asked Zev with anger: "What are you doing here handing out the Bibles and DVDs and talking to people? We are Jews". Zev answered with a very calm voice: "We are all Jews and I'm here to give the most Jewish message you will ever hear". Efrem asked: "What do you mean?" Zev asked Efrem if he believes in Moses? Efrem said yes. Zev asked: "Do you believe Moses was speaking under the inspiration of God?" "Of course" answered Efrem. "He was one of the greatest messengers of all time." Zev: "Who was greater than Moses?" Efrem said "None". Zev said to him: "If the Bible says there is one greater, what if Moses himself predicated this?" Suddenly Efrem was very interested and become calm. The Holy Spirit took over. Zev opened the Bible to Deuteronomy 18:15 -
"The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers - it is to him you shall listen."

                                Efrem reading Deuteronomy18:15

After reading this, Zev explained to Efrem that Moses is proclaiming that there is a prophet who is greater than him, and that the God of Israel is telling us to listen to him. This is the Messiah. If we believed in Moses then we believe in the Messiah. At that moment, something supernatural happened. Efrem began to stutter and scratch his head. Efrem asked Zev: "How we can know who this prophet is? Surly it can't be the one all the gentiles believe in." Zev answered Efrem with love: "You have answered yourself." Efrem was convicted and knew the truth.

Efrem scratching his head. The Holy Spirit          Working on him!

Please pray he will not be afraid of the truth that can set him free.

We continued to share this message with many. The Holy Spirit was leading people to us like magnets. We praise the Lord Yeshua!
