There's an amazing thing going on right now in Italy; something bizarre and scary at the same time - scary, that is, only if you're a scientist anywhere on earth.
Scientists have been given a public trust and in many cases a whole lot of public money - too much if you ask some people. The atrocities done in the name of science are numerous. Many scientific medical "experiments" were carried out on Jews during the holocaust. Just recently President Obama publicly apologized for heinous acts done in the name of science in Guatemala.
So far, however, there has been no apology forthcoming for the largest, longest, most wide spread and most harmful atrocity done in the name of science ever... and we do mean ever. The teaching that people are nothing more than animals and that we evolved out of the primordial slime billions of years ago with no transcendental purpose at all is being thrust upon society as fact even though it has been debunked, refuted, and rightfully ridiculed by many who practice real, beneficial science each and every day.
The theory of evolution is responsible for numerous atrocities ranging from the justification for slaughtering millions of people through racial and ethnic cleansing to teaching kids in the classroom that they are nothing more than animals leading to dramatic increases in childhood depression, crime, etc, etc. Why be good if, in the end, there is no consequence. Acting like animals has given rise to sexually transmitted diseases - a list too long to mention here with rising, not falling, rates of infection. After all, if we're all just animals then there is no God and the Bible is not true. And if this is the case then the moral codes contained in the Bible are meaningless and the fact that following them leads to health, wealth, and wisdom is just a random coincidence.
Six Italian scientists and one government official are set to go to trial today in Italy (Sept. 20) on charges of manslaughter for not warning the public aggressively enough of an impending earthquake that killed more than 300 people in 2009. Why did they expect so much from these people? Could it be that they feel the public trust afforded to scientists has been violated? Could it be the result of the constant barrage of news and pop culture reporting in the world which lifts up scientists as the ones with all the answers? Could it finally be that the world is finally ready to begin holding these people to account? Let us hope so. Let us also hope that the evolutionists are next in the polygraph chair... so we can finally put an end to the abuse of public trust.
