BREAKING - Obama Fundraising for Primary Challenge

Rosanne Barr is in - so she says. She's probably joking but it appears the Obama campaign is taking seriously the possibility that a Democrat may run against him in the primary. In fact they are so serious that they are actually fundraising in order to counter any challenge to his incumbency.

Here is a screen shot from the Obama donate page -

Notice it says "By submitting your contribution, you agree that the first $2,500 of a contribution will be designated for the 2012 primary election, and any additional amount, up to $2,500 will be designated for the 2012 general election".

So essentially the Obama campaign is collecting $2500 for the primary and an additional $2500 for the general. That is a total of $5000. Also notice that the "first" $2500 goes to the primary by default. It seems to be their utmost concern at this point ad the website is quick to point this out. For those who are uninformed - the primary is the election which decides who will represent their party in an election. So Obama is anticipating a challenger in the election. The only other alternative is they are double-dipping.

Another angle here is they are actually using the primary money to attack the Republicans under the guise of a primary election expenditure. This is more likely the case. If this really is what's going on here then Obama and his crew are defrauding the American people. They are collecting money designated for the primary election when there is no clear primary challenger and using it to combat potential threats from challenges from other parties. This is the domain of a general election and not a primary and these funds should not be used for the general. Yet the Obama website clearly states that all current donations are sent to the primary fund by default. They are fundraising for the primary - without a primary challenger.
