The atheist position is generally quite weak and the theist opposition must be squelched using gutter language and/or condescending tones and ad hominems to deflect from life's existential paradigms and the mountains of evidence which support transcendental realities.
One of the labels I've been personally given by closed-minded atheists is "prick". It's a pejorative designed to belittle me and the urban dictionary defines its use as a derogatory term used to sum up the existence of a worthless [person].
But being a "prick" in the Biblical and perhaps even prophetic sense is certainly not a bad thing. In fact, as a "prick" you are probably doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing. Read what Jesus Himself had to say about it.
And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
Acts 9:5
So before Saul's conversion he was chasing after the Christians; killing them, etc. Jesus viewed this as an attack against HIM personally! The "pricks" Jesus was referring to were the Christians whom Saul was having killed. No matter how fervently Saul went after them, their numbers were still swelling by the thousands. The more he "kicked" them, the greater their numbers.
The dictionary defines the non-vulgar intellectual use of the word "prick" as "a pointed instrument or weapon". We can certainly and comfortably conclude that this was Jesus' intended use of the word. We have evidence for this with the many militant references to the church, etc.
Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 2:3
No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
2 Timothy 2:4
So how about it? Are you a "prick" for Jesus or do you fold like a cheap suit when the Sauls of this world come against you with attacks against the truths of scripture? Truths like creation, healthy sexuality, heaven and hell, etc. The evidence favors the truths contained in the Bible... truths you are expected to use as a "prick" against Saul.
The Bible does not need you to defend it. Like a lion trapped in a cage, all that is required is that you let it out. It will defend itself.
