Indiana Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock said Tuesday when a woman is impregnated during a rape, "it's something God intended." (Oct. 23)
I'm getting a little tired of these biblically illiterate politicians spouting off about theological issues about which they have no clue. God Himself may be getting "tired" of being blamed for this evil as well... if it was possible for God to be tired.
Mourdock later explained by saying "God is the only one who can create life". It is true that God created the systems and templates FOR life but life happens when the human reproductive system functions properly. This is God's involvement in pregnancy - not that each life conceived on an individual basis happens according to the will of God. That is simply not true.
The proper answer to the rape/pregnancy issue is that when there is a pregnancy which results from rape there is multiple travesties when an abortion happens. A child is killed and the woman becomes more exposed to health risks herself.
Also, the Bible is clear that what the Devil intends for evil, God can TURN AROUND for good if the situation is given over to Him! Let's choose life in all situations so that evil is not heaped upon evil. I think that is the right answer here.
