Oregon shooting the result of weapons ban inside the mall - sitting duck syndrome
By Mike Shoesmith
The masked gunman who opened fire in the crowded Clackamas Town Center mall in suburban Portland, Ore., killing two and seriously injuring a third before killing himself, was trying to "kill as many people as possible."
The shooter, wearing a white hockey mask, black clothing and a bullet proof vest, tore through the mall just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, entering through a Macy's store and heading to the food court and public areas spraying bullets, according to witness reports.
Locals are reporting that the mall has a "no firearms/weapons allowed" policy; some wondering why the sign in the front of the building banning weapons didn't prevent the tragedy which killed two people.
Clearly, as with the movie theater in Colorado and the food court in Toronto, Clackamas Town Center Mall has a problem with sitting duck syndrome, not guns, unless you count the lack of guns in the building a problem.
UPDATE - Mall shooter ID'd as 22-year-old Jacob Tyler Roberts
