For decades experts have been saying this. History has been shouting it. Biographies have been written which bare it out. There is an actual 'gay recipe'; a set of dynamics which do not always produce a homosexual tendency but does seem to be the overwhelming cause when same-sex attraction becomes a powerful force in a man's life.
On July 26 2013 Dan Savage, writer and world famous homosexual activist was being interviewed on Canadian radio CBC's 'Q' on his new book 'American Savage.' During the show the host asked Savage about his coming 'out' to his parents. This is the point at which the show took a very telling turn.Savage went on to explain that he never got along with his dad. He told the host that it didn't make him 'gay' but that his father must have 'sensed' his son was 'gay' and rejected him for it. It's interesting that Savage would include that in his answer when that wasn't part of the question. Obviously the possibility that his father's disinterest in him as a child being the reason for his same-sex attraction is still in his mind. In this line of though he is not far from the truth.
Elton John, Allan Cumming, Rock Hudson, and many more had poor and/or non-existent relationships with their dads. It is a common triadic paradigm involving an unappealing father-figure and an overbearing mother. In Dan Savage's case he admits to both in the interview on CBC Radio. He referred to himself as a 'mamma's boy' as he inadvertently related to the audience the exact formula which constitutes the 'gay recipe' proposed by experts such as Dr James Dobson and Dr Dean A Byrd.
As a shocking aside, Savage went on to explain what happened when he came 'out' to his mother following his father's decision to leave the family. She was a devout Roman Catholic and due to the shock of finding out her son was a homosexual she turned to her source of solace, the family priest. Savage recounted the event in clear detail. When she told the priest of the news he smiled, put his hands on her lap, and told her this was great because he, too, was 'gay.' It's the stuff Hollywood is made of.
At the end of the day here we see yet another casualty of nurture over nature. Little boys who never get over the rejection from their dads or the equally damaging unappealing qualities these men portray.

ReplyDeleteThis shrink is informing us that young boys who think they're homosexual are really just victims of sexual abuse and are confused by the victimization which has manifested into a type of Stockholm Syndrome. Homosexuality is a psychosis.
