Outreach: Do chickens atone for sins?

Do chickens atone for sins?

Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) symbolizes the need for the forgiveness of sin and is fulfilled by Messiah Yeshua's sacrifice for the atonement of humanity's sins. Significantly, the offerings made on Yom Kippur are the only offerings of all those made throughout the year that also atone for unintentional sin. This makes the link between Yom Kippur and Yeshua the Messiah even more obvious.
"The next day John saw Jesus [Yeshua] coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29)

As believers in Yeshua we know that we have full redemption of sins by the blood of Yeshua the Messiah.

As the Jewish people are preparing for Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, many are sacrificing chickens for their sins. Because deep down in their soul they know that prayer and fasting cannot atone for sins and certainly can not bring them to salvation.

Reuven shocked by the true Atonement

We at Messiah of Israel Ministries were sharing the love of Yeshua just one day before the Eve of Yom Kippur in the Orthodox city Bnei Brak.

As we entered the city we felt the darkness and danger, but we knew the Holy Spirit sent us there. So we went in to proclaim the true Atonement Yeshua the Messiah as chickens were being sacrificed.

Messianic Rabbi Zev Porat began talking to many about sacrifices and sins. There was one man named Reuven who was sacrificing one chicken after another for himself and his family. After he finished waving the chickens, he proclaimed them as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of his family's sins.

It was so sad to see how much Reuven and all the other people really wanted atonement for their sins, but were fooled by Satan.

Hosea 4:6 says -
"my people perish for lack of knowledge."

After Reuven finished waving the chickens over his head, Zev said "shalom" to him and that chickens cannot take away your sins. In fact, you are grieving the God of Israel for doing so. From Reuven's face he was not happy to hear what Zev was saying but he was silent.
Reuven said in the Bible it talks about sacrifice for sins, and we do not have the temple anymore, therefore, we sacrifice chickens. Zev said with love and compassion: "What do you do with the chickens after they are sacrificed?" Reuven: "We give them to the poor to eat."
Zev: "So the poor eat the chicken with all your sins?"  Reuven was shocked and felt embarrassed as others were listening.

Praise Yeshua. Zev opened the Bible to Leviticus 17:11 -
"For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement."

Praise Yeshua!
Zev told Reuven that he was right that we do not have the temple anymore, but if chickens can atone for our sins why do people fast for atonement? Reuven: "For forgiveness of sins." Zev: "But you say the chickens atone for sins?"  Reuven was puzzled and said he never thought about that.

Zev then knew it was the time to share the Good News of salvation with Reuven who needs to see that only God can atone for our sins, not a chicken, not prayers, not fasting, and not good works.

Zev told him in Isaiah 53 the Messiah died on the tree for our sins, rose on the third day and by His blood we have full redemption of sins if we repent and
believe in Him.

Reuven: "That does not sound Jewish to me." Zev: "Did we not read the Jewish Bible together?" Reuven: "Yes. "Zev said: "It is the most Jewish message you will ever hear. Our Messiah was a Jew. Today is the day before Yom Kippur, you need to ask the true Messiah into your heart and He will reveal to you. If you repent in faith, He will forgive your sins and give you eternal life, not because you deserve it, but because of God's love and grace.

Reuven asked Zev who is the Messiah? Zev: "He is Yeshua." Although Bnei Brak is one of the most dangerous places in Israel to share Yeshua, we knew the hand of God was with us, and we were not  scared to preach the Word.

Reuven could not say a word. He was in total shock. We give all the Glory to our Lord Yeshua.

At that moment something amazing happened he was so convicted by the truth. It was clear the Holy Spirit was moving. We could feel the Shekinah Glory shining over the dark Orthodox city. Rouvin left all the chickens behind and just left with his family.

Reuven knew the truth and felt foolish about sacrificing chickens for sins. Please pray for him and all who heard the true Atonement Yeshua the Messiah. May the Holy Spirit open their eyes to the true meaning of Yom Kippur.

Zev continued to share the message with many people who were waving chickens over their heads for their sins. We had many supernatural conversations.

Please join us in prayer that the Lost Sheep of Israel will come to know that Yeshua is their Final Atonement and Eternal Salvation.

We thank the Lord Yeshua for His Love, Forgiveness, Grace and Eternal Life. Amen.
