Newsmax is reporting that leaders of some of the nation's largest religious denominations said they were distressed and saddened Wednesday by President Barack Obama's newly announced support for gay marriage.
In an interview with ABC News, Obama said, "At a certain point I've just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married."
The list of "leaders" includes New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Rev. Bryant Wright, president of the Southern Baptist Convention, Bob Vander Plaats, the head of The Family Leader, Rev. Richard D. Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, and Rev. Leith Anderson, president of the National Association of Evangelicals.
But strangely absent is the oppostion of one Rick Warren of Saddleback Church. Sure, you remember Pastor Rick! He's the guy who famously asked "Christian" presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama what he considered to be the definition of marriage - in a televised interview no less.
Obama said that both he personally and he as a "Christian" believed that marriage was between a man and a woman. Many people were looking for that confirmation as evidenced by the thunderous applause from the audience. Yet Warren remains silent today, the day after Obama completely reversed his decision... ad evolved.
We sent out out a request to Warren's office for a comment on Obama's about-face. We'll update this post should we get a reply.
