Countless stories ran this morning claiming the actor chosen to play Satan in last night's episode ofThe Bible bore an uncomfortable resemblance to President Barack Obama.
The reports gained so much traction that the History channel and The Bible's producers, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, were forced to comment on the matter.
"This is utter nonsense," Burnett said in a statement. "The actor who played Satan, Mehdi Ouzaani, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor. He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics -- including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our President."
Downey continued, "Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love our President, who is a fellow Christian. False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of The Bible."
"HISTORY channel has the highest respect for President Obama," the network said. "The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It's unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. HISTORY's The Bible is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history."
PPSIMMONS Note: If the maker of this show has been tricked into believing Obama is a 'fellow Christian' should we be taking anything contained in this series seriously? It's a rhetorical question :)
REALLY?!! Obama...a CHRISTian?!! Where are his "fruits" (as described in Matthew)?? Doooon't see them! As far as this mini-series is concerned...before the 1st hour of the 1st night's showing was finished, So Was I!! In the short time I watched it it was far from being Biblically correct!! "Do not add to, or take away from, GOD's Words!"
