MOORESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -
Emergency crews say a bus of US Army Reserve soldiers returning from training has crashed in Mooresville, injuring 41 people.
The incident was reported just before 3 p.m. at Oak Meadow Road and Highway 150. The bus was transporting troops from Charlotte-Douglas International Airport to Salisbury.
The Army Reserve members are from the 991st Transportation Company based in Salisbury.
Officials said the bus slowed fro turning traffic, slid to the right and ran off the road.
Emergency crews say 41 people were injured. Of those, 27 are being taken to local hospitals.
One of those 27 was transported to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte in critical condition, officials said.
Fourteen of the 41 injured were treated on scene.
Video from Sky3 shows two motor coaches at the scene. One of them is turned on its side.
Medic crews can be seen treating several patients on the ground.
The motor coaches are from Holiday Tours based out of Randolph County.
The company says it is cooperating with investigators.
