Obama Fundraising for Possible Primary Challenge from Hillary

The Obama Campaign is in full fundraising mode and according to their donation page the main goal is to raise capital to defeat a possible primary challenge. According to Barackobama.com the first $2500 of all donations goes to the primary election. From the website:

By submitting your contribution, you agree that the first $2,500 of a contribution will be designated for the 2012 primary election, and any additional amount, up to $2,500 will be designated for the 2012 general election.
But who could the contender be? None other than Hillary of course! Well... that's the speculation in the wires today. According to usnews.com:

In an E-mail, the Hillary Clinton for President campaign revived speculation that she is still interested in the Oval Office despite new denials that President Obama is considering replacing Vice President Joe Biden with his secretary of state.
That particular article deals with a possible third party candidacy for Hillary but that seems unlikely considering the dynamics of vote-splitting; a political nightmare for parties which need a majority to be effective. And then there's Bill. He was also stirring it up today with this from Real Clear Politics (.com):

"You have to take her at her word, she didn't want to run the first time, then she

did," former President Bill Clinton said about his wife Secretary of State Hillary

Clinton on "The View" today. "She's tired, she needs some time off," he said.

"I don't know what the future holds," Clinton said about Hillary Clinton's political

aspirations. "She doesn't think she will ever run for office again," he added

So the political plot thickens. According to Obama's own website the main focus is the primary. Now we see why - a fear is present in the minds of the POTUS and his team... or not. It could simply be that Obama is trying to double-dip into people's pockets by using the primary as one election fund and the general as a second which enables him to get double the legal limit from each donor. By separating the elections (primary and general) he is able to double the amount a single person is able to give. He would have to find a legal way of rolling that initial $2500 into the general fund OR simply use the primary money to combat any front-runner in the GOP lineup under the pretense of a primary election use AND this might be what this is all about in the end - the Clintons stirring things up so that Obama looks like he NEEDS the primary money.

And did we mention he's selling meetings with himself in the form of a lottery? Oh yes... for a mere $3 you get a chance to meet him in person! He and Michelle are sending out emails to the email list asking for $3 in exchange for a chance at a dinner and a meeting with the first couple. This on the very day Bagojevich was sentenced to 14 years for attempting to sell Obama's senate seat. Illinois politics - don't you just love it?

Obama Selling Meetings with Himself for Campaign Donations

An email campaign is underway by the Obama campaign which is engaging in selling lottery tickets for a chance to win a meeting with the POTUS. The emails all pretty much say the same thing - donate three dollars or more to the campaign and you'll be eligible for a chance to meet the President and his wife.

This smells an awful lot like Illinois politics does it not? Didn't the Governor of Illinois get in some hot water recently for attempting to sell Obama's Senate seat after he won in 2008? Yes, I think he did. And now we see through an email campaign the attempt to sell and profit from the sale of lottery tickets which will get the winner a meeting with the President of the United States. Sounds pretty similar to us! We should mention that there is a disclaimer in the fine print at the bottom of these email which reads in part -

No purchase, payment, or contribution necessary to enter or win. Contributing will not improve chances of winning.
Yet the email body text says a minimum of $3 is required to enter. Is this legal? - to pimp out the office of President like this? If the Governor of Illinois didn't get away with it then why should the President? At the very least this is degrading to the office of President is it not? Indeed it is.

Wendy's Meeting with Barack - is it even LEGAL?

If you're a member of the Obama campaign like I am you're familiar with the current email campaign coming from the re-election headquarters. There's a lottery going on - sanctioned by the Obama team and now a woman has come out who claims she won the last lottery of this kind - the Meet the Obama's lottery!

The email begins, as they all do, with the word "Friend". Loosely utilized I'm sure but cozy nonetheless. It continues:

My name is Wendi, and about a month ago, I had dinner with President Obama.
Very personal - very intimate. Her name is Wendy - Wendy Smith. It was "one of the most significant experiences" of her life she writes. I'm sure it was.

I told him about my son and his college loans, my work as an artist, and asked him about public education -- I could tell that he was genuinely listening to each of us, even though I'm sure he had a lot going on that day, and his own family back at the White House.
Artist? Public education? I wonder if this person is a liberal. I wonder if she ever worked on the Obama campaign in 08. Wait! What's this?

I've supported Barack Obama for a long time, and in 2008, I phone banked and canvassed for him near my hometown of Corydon, Indiana.
Well now - it looks like Wendy may have been a pretty safe bet to allow near the first couple wouldn't you say? This email is promoting the "Meet the Obama's" lottery where they are asking supporters to donate a minimum of $3 to the campaign war chest in order to be entered in a drawing to meet the President and his woman. Notice Wendy's sentence here.

The link takes you right to the donate page at the Obama website. Of course Wendy was planning on donating anyway.

I was planning on making a donation anyway, so I thought I might as well do it now.

This email has all of the sales nuances built in like "do it now". Obviously Wendy didn't write this but has anyone actually checked the legality of pimping out a meeting with a government member using a lottery? Is it legal? There's a fine print at the bottom of all these emails which says -

No purchase, payment, or contribution necessary to enter or win. Contributing will not improve chances of winning.
Yet the email says a donation of $3 is required. Does anyone else find this strange? A lottery to meet the POTUS? Selling a meeting with the President in order to finance his election campaign? Is it legal to sell a meeting with the President? Didn't the Governor of Illinois get into trouble for something similar?

Wendy ends her email with -

When I got back home, I told my husband and friends that the President was exactly the man we all thought he was: modest, genuine, engaged, and very caring.
Artists... always so good with using their imagination!

BREAKING - Obama Sponsors a LOTTERY - Sells meeting with him for $3

As an insider member of the Obama Campaign we are the recipients of the official Obama For President emails. The most recent email sent out today details a lottery sponsored by Obama for a chance to win a dinner and meeting with "The One" and his wife Michelle.

The body text of the email (implied to be personally written by Barack - I call him Barack now that I'm on the inside) reads "Donate $3 or whatever you can to be automatically entered to sit down for a meal with Michelle and me." A link is embedded in that text which takes the reader to a donate page where you must donate in order to be entered into the drawing to meet the POTUS and his woman.

HOWEVER - the fine print at the bottom of the page says the following - "No purchase, payment, or contribution necessary to enter or win. Contributing will not improve chances of winning. Void where prohibited". Wait just a minute! Barack himself said you had to donate. The donate page ALSO says the same thing - "Make a donation today to be automatically entered for a chance to have dinner with President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama". Can we get some clarification on this?

Wait - no need. There seems to be a political paradox at play here. The implication here made by Barack is that a donation is required. This is the goal here. HOWEVER the legal team added the tiny text at the bottom of the page for a little CYA. We understand now. The lottery will net a large amount of money because most people (especially the liberals who will actually do this) will not bother reading the fine print. Obama gets a fine photo op and, well, you get the picture... politics as usual.
